Sandboxes and Twins
Learn how Arga models external services and workflows for safe testing.
Arga creates sandbox environments that mirror how real systems behave. These environments include your application or agents as well as simulated versions of the services they interact with.
Two core concepts power this system: sandboxes and service twins.
Sandboxes
A sandbox is an isolated environment where your application or agent can run workflows safely.
Each run is:
- Isolated from production
- Resettable
- Fully traced
Sandboxes allow software to interact with external services without affecting real users or systems.
Service twins
Service twins are API-compatible versions of real external services. They behave like the services your application already integrates with.
Examples of supported services include communication platforms, productivity tools, and infrastructure services such as:
- Slack
- GitHub
- Stripe
- Jira
- Google Workspace tools
These twins allow agents and apps to read, write, and coordinate across services without touching the real versions.
Seeding scenarios
A sandbox scenario can be seeded using:
- Mock data
- Real production data pulled from your services
This helps reproduce realistic situations and workflows that agents might encounter in the real world.
Safe interaction with production data
Runs inside Arga do not write to production services. Instead, sandbox environments interact with service twins while production data can be used as a comparison baseline.
